Stories and Experiences
We use the power of communal story telling to deeply understand each other's experiences. This happens in small groups with an expert moderator. The moderator facilitates a civil discourse. Respectful and civil discourse with space for everyone helps with understanding each other's perspective leading to greater empathy.
Share your stories
We all have rich stories to tell. We are not all great story tellers. You don't have to be. You share and we will patiently listen and attempt to understand.
Listen to other's stories
You in turn will let others tell their stories and listen and do your best at understanding the stories.
Safe. Respectful. Moderated
All conversations are guided by a moderator.

Our Story
Empathy is the ability to understand another person's point of view from their frame of reference. Empathy can be learned and exercised. In our politically charged and divisive world where social media algorithms amplify our echo chambers being empathetic is the only way out.
The goal of this project is to help people learn how to build more empathy. With more visceral understanding of each other and our own human conditions, we have a shot at breaking out of our echo chambers, challenge our own stereotypes and stem some of the divisiveness in our society.
As an added bonus, being empathetic will make it easier to connect with everyone you meet.
Participant Testimonials
Writer in WA
My Empathy Project gave me a space to talk about important topics without feeling the pressure to have “the right opinion.” ...
In one conversation about rethinking the place of problematic historical figures, I was able to see my own experience as part of a whole, not isolated, without meaning or consequence. In My Empathy Project human experiences are not fuel for advertising revenue but are a conduit through which humans connect.

"I think more than that, I enjoyed how everyone in the group held space for one another in their hearts and allowed for an open discussion without the feeling of fear."

I love the platform and the process you worked out. It is important for people to be heard and seen by their peers and this is a very enlightened way of addressing that need. The two topic a meeting thing worked out really well.
